Madayaw Maco!...once more we are making history as the Municipality of Maco is recognized in the National level.
The prestigious Walang Gutom Awards continues to shine a spotlight on local government units (LGUs) that are making significant strides in the fight against hunger and malnutrition through innovative and sustainable community-driven initiatives. The awards recognize outstanding local governance programs that champion food security and support the government’s Zero Hunger Agenda, honoring LGUs that have demonstrated impactful and lasting solutions for their communities.
The Municipality of Maco earned recognition for its Integrated
Nutrition and Food Security Program, a comprehensive initiative designed to combat hunger and malnutrition through coordinated nutrition interventions, sustainable food production, and strengthened community participation. The program reflects the municipality’s commitment to ensuring that vulnerable families, particularly children and marginalized sectors, have access to nutritious food and essential health services.
Representing the Maco LGU during the awarding ceremony was Dr. Bhen Zar Sam, Municipal Nutrition Action Officer, whose leadership and dedication have been instrumental in advancing the municipality’s nutrition and food security programs. Through collaborative governance and proactive community engagement, Maco has established a model program that demonstrates how local initiatives can create meaningful and sustainable change.
The recognition received by the Municipality of Maco is one impactful outcome of what true leadership means and living in the oath of BASTA SERBISYO SIGURADO under the leadership of Kuya Mayor Volter Rimando (Hon. Arthur Carlos Voltaire R. Rimando) and Alvera Veronica Rimando (Hon. Alvera Veronica R. Rimando, MD, FPSMS, RMT) together with our SB Members underscores the vital role of local governance in achieving food security and promoting community welfare.
This successful program serves as inspiring example of how innovation, collaboration, and commitment can effectively address hunger and malnutrition at the grassroots level.
As the nation continues to pursue its Zero Hunger Agenda, the achievements of Maco stand as a testament to the power of responsive and people-centered governance in building healthier, stronger, and more food-secure communities.
