BREAKING: A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck the waters east of Cagwait, Surigao del Sur at 10:32 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The tectonic quake, located 22 kilometers northeast of Cagwait, had a depth of 10 kilometers.
Phivolcs reported that the tremor was felt at Intensity IV in the City of Davao and in the towns of Cagwait and Carmen in Surigao del Sur.
Intensity III was recorded in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur, and Mati City, Davao Oriental.
Instrumental intensities were also reported in several areas, including Cabadbaran City in Agusan del Norte, Nabunturan in Davao de Oro, and Hinunangan and Silago in Southern Leyte.
Phivolcs said that the quake is expected to cause damage and may generate aftershocks. Residents are advised to stay alert and follow safety protocols in case of further tremors.
