The Local Government Unit of Maco, through its Gender and Development (GAD) Office, in partnership with the Sangguniang Bayan Office, Municipal Health Office, MSWDO, and Council of Women, conducted a benchmarking activity at Tagum City’s Atiman Center and Child Minding Center. The activity aimed to observe best practices in social welfare, early childhood care, and community-based programs to enhance local services in Maco.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by Ms. Sally Balili, RSW, CSWD Officer, who guided the team throughout the visit. The benchmarking began at the Child Minding Center, where members observed program implementation, child care services, and staff engagement.

The visit continued at the Atiman Center, where Dr. Joyce Lyn J. Hernani guided the delegation and explained the meaning behind “ATIMAN,” which stands for Atimanun, Tagdon, Ilhon, Matutuon, Amumahon Nato. She also highlighted the center’s objectives and its two major thrusts: Prevention and Intervention, aimed at addressing social welfare and rehabilitation needs in the community.

Following the site visits, a critiquing and feedback session was conducted. Participants shared their observations, identified best practices that could be adapted in Maco, and discussed strategies to enhance the efficiency, inclusivity, and impact of local programs.

The LGU Maco delegation extended its gratitude to Mayor Rey T. Uy, Ms. Sally Balili, Dr. Hernani, and the staff of both centers for their support and warm reception. The benchmarking activity reinforced LGU Maco’s commitment to responsive, people-centered governance and the continuous improvement of programs that promote social welfare and gender and development initiatives.
